Ce qu'habiter veut dire
Following its presentation at the last Brussels Book Fair, the book is now available in the best bookshops in Belgium.
"Ce qu'habiter veut dire" is a sensitive account of a three-year journey to discover the French-speaking territory of Belgium and its inhabitants. During this exploration, and using culture as a lever, The Cultural Institute of Architecture Wallonia-Brussels (ICA) opened this question to all its audiences: "For you, what does it mean to live?" While the answers collected are specific to French-speaking Belgian culture, their impact extends beyond our borders, questioning our own ways of living.
After all, to live here is not just to find a place to live, it's also to become aware of a (non-)built landscape and territory, to think about what to do with what already exists, what has already been built and developed, to take part in shaping your living environment and the culture that thrives around it, and above all, to dream. "Ce qu'habiter veut dire" invites us to immerse ourselves in and draw inspiration from visions - sometimes constructed, sometimes sketched, sometimes rooted in reality, sometimes utopian - emanating from all the actors in our living environment.
